On Saturday morning Father Andrzej and Irmina Nockiewicz were welcomed over a good Lebanese coffee by father Charbel Obeid and Marie Maaz from the Arabic speaking community. Fr. Charbel is dedicated to work with families, he, himself remembers beautiful moments of family prayer, especially the Rosary. As a child he went to Mass every day and at the age of 18 he had already responsibilities in the youth ministry of his Maronite diocese of Byblos, this is how his vocation was born. However, it was not until the age of 22 that he entered the seminary in Lebanon, before he graduated in Law, he came to Europe to study at the Holy Cross University in Rome and now he serves the community in Germany, in Münster Diocese, present Münster, Gronau and Delmenhorst. Fr. Charbel, serves also Catholics of Maronite rite in other dioceses: in Hannover and Bremen in Germany, but his pastoral activity reaches as far as to Enschede and Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
For Fr. Charbel "the priest is above all a father who loves his children". This love comes from the heavenly Father through prayr. Likewise Fr. Charbel emphasizes that his experience is that "prayer is the soul of the apostolate" and therefore every day "I remind myself that I am a servant and an instrument of the Lord, a joyful and convinced herald of the Word." In his opinion, “today's world needs convinced, joyful and magnanimous heralds to preach the Good News." He gladly learnt about "Our Way to God" initiative and he is enthusiastic about the new evangelization project. Looking forward, for the development of pastoral activities with this new tool he will be assisted by pastoral assistant Marie, who already cooperates with him in this field. We hope the “Our way to God” catechesis will start soon and give the opportunity get to know Jesus better and deepen our Christian faith to all participants.
