Stay with us - My Way to the Catholic Church
Gad Elmaleh decides to leave New York and move back to Paris, to get baptized and become a Catholic. Despite his attempt to hide the truth from his Jewish family, Gad's parents discover their son's unconditional love for the Virgin Mary - and for them, it's a nightmare! Determined to bring Gad back to reason and to his Jewishness, they turn his conversion into a battlefield - as Gad tries to make them understand by any means necessary that his sincere beliefs do not change his identity and the love he has for his family.

The Jewish comedian stages his conversion to Catholicism, Gad Elmaleh sincere in his approach, otherwise his film would be bizarre 13 years after the comedy Coco. Elmaleh returns to directing with an intimate film, his mother's and father's reactions are played by his own parents, but Gad Elmaleh makes full use of Jewish humor. If the question of faith is deep, Gad Elmaleh's approach remains that of comedy. A touching film, in which he shares with us his questions about faith, not devoid of humor, which can speak to each of us.

With great simplicity, Gad retraces and scripts his own spiritual journey and his approach as a catechumen, since he asks for baptism. This film promises to offer a sensitive and inspiring testimony of a man in search of God. It raises questions and will no doubt echo the personal journey of many believers, catechumens, newcomers and all those around them: families, parishioners, those accompanying the catechumenate.

Without knowing how to explain it theoretically, Gad is attracted by the representatives and envoys of Heaven, who are more or less aware of their mission and who do not deprive him of his freedom, flourish and l engage in a search for God. These messengers of the Good News are: the candles in the churches, a priest, a nun and even a luminous young girl (who refused to play her role). She takes care of an elderly person, whose feet he will wash as Jesus did at the last supper.
